Jefferson County was one of the first counties in the state of Tennessee to participate in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Today we are also partners with Governor Phil Bredesen's Books from Birth Foundation.
The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is the presenting sponser for this program where every child in Jefferson County has the opportunity to receive a free book each month from birth to five years old.

Phillip C. Kindred
Retired Instructional Supervisor
Jefferson County Department of Education
"As a career eduacator with 37 years experience. I know that the ultimate success of a child in school depends to a large degree on what parents do for children before they ever enter a school house door. During the pre-school years parents have an opportunity to plant the seeds of sounds, words and attitudes about reading and language development in their child's mind. The Dollywood Imagination Library can be an excellent tool to help parents establish an early pattern for reading and lay a foundation for future success."
